Safety TipsUpdated 10 months ago
Dermaplaning requires careful attention to technique and skin condition to ensure safety and effectiveness. Here are some key precautions to consider:
Patch Test First. Perform a patch test before adding to your skincare routine. This is to ensure your skin does not react negatively to dermaplaning.
Do Not Use within 24 hours of exfoliating.
Keep It Clean and Sharp. Always ensure you are using a clean and sharp blade to minimise the risk of irritation and abrasion. After each use wipe clean the blade with a damp cloth to remove any dead skin, hair or dust particles, replace the cap and store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight or moisture.
Do Not Use if the blade is blunt or rusty. Discard in this case and use a new one.
Avoid Using During An Active Breakout. Avoid using the blade over an acne breakout, irritated skin to prevent spreading the breakout and prevent skin damage.
Do Not Use On Sensitive Areas. The helloskin dermablades are designed for the face only. Do not use the blade on sensitive areas around the eyelids or directly around the eyes. Do not use above the eyebrows/forehead and neck.
Sun Exposure. Avoid direct sun exposure immediately before or after dermaplaning. Always apply a broad spectrum sunscreen when heading outdoors even on an overcast day to protect your skin. Do Not Use over sun burnt or irritated skin.
Frequency. Do not dermaplane too frequently; once every 3 - 6 weeks is sufficient.
